President Laura Bloomberg invites you to join her for an evening of performances by students in Cleveland State University's School of Music. Showcasing CSU's talented student musicians, including performances by student-led chamber ensembles, the CSU Jazz Band under the direction of Joe Miller and the CSU Wind Ensemble with Dr. Browning the President's Concert is a chance for the community to experience CSU musicians.
The first half of the program will feature student-led chamber ensembles performing from various locations around the audience, seamlessly transitioning between groups without pauses. The second half will spotlight the CSU Wind Ensemble, featuring percussionist Michael Dontenville as timpani soloist on Michael Daugherty’s Raise the Roof.
Other wind band repertoire on the concert will include John Mackey’s Aurora Awakes and a setting of John William’s Jedi Steps and Finale from his groundbreaking soundtrack from the Star Wars trilogy. The concert is expected to run 100 to 120 minutes, including an intermission.
